position is for a Structural Engineer for the Certification
Engineering Team at our Irvine, CA facility, reporting to the
Manager of Civil Certification. This is a senior-level role
intended to provide data approvals in the area of aircraft
structures. As such, the candidate must currently be a FAA
consultant DER or be capable of becoming a FAA company or
consultant DER with the appropriate endorsements for
structures.What you can do:
- Responsible for technical approval of the structural aspects of
aircraft designs in support of a clean sheet design for FAA Type
Certification
- Will act as certification Task Leader for new type design
project, tracking programmatic issues involving Type
Certification
- Provide technical feedback in support of critical program
deliverables and aircraft design reviews and propose solutions to
engineering issues, as required
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to all-levels of
structural engineers within the organization
- Author and/or review technical documents or data on the behalf
of SupernalWhat you can contribute:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (an equivalent
combination of education and experience may also be
considered)
- Proven track record in aerospace structures
- Solid understanding of Federal Aviation Regulation 14 CFR parts
21, 23/25 and related EASA Joint Aviation Requirement
(JAR)/Certification Specification (CS), or Civil Aviation Authority
(CAR) 3 required
- Ability to review engineering drawings, analyses, and reports
to determine compliance with airworthiness requirements and to find
compliance as delegated by the FAA
- Support the Supernal engineering team with development of
project Certification Basis and the associated Means and Methods of
Compliance
- Guide the engineering and test team in the analyses,
simulations, and test execution in support of the Type
Certification programs
- Experience in classical structural analysis methods and
structural Finite Element Analysis is required
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform functions
on behalf of both Supernal and the FAA without conflicts of
interest
- Experience with FAA Issue Paper and EASA CRI processes, and FAA
alternative means of compliance (AMOC) process
- Must be able to work overtime and travel as necessary
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office Products and be
computer literateYou may also be able to contribute:
- Experience preparing structural dynamics and/or flutter
analysis reports is preferred
- Experience with classical structural analysis techniques and
finite element modeling is preferred
- Experience with FAA issue resolution
- Previous experience as a company DER, consultant DER, or an ODA
Engineering Unit Member is preferred or a CVE within an EASA
DOA
- Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulation 14 CFR parts
