Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.
The Wholesale Control Organization is a newly formed organization within Wholesale Banking that is responsible for supporting Wholesale lines of business with risk strategy, implementation, and execution to meet regulatory, corporate, and group risk management requirements and expectations. This front-line group interfaces with Independent Risk Management teams (f/k/a second line of defense) and third lines of defense, as well as risk teams supporting each Wholesale business. It has five risk operations groups, a control strategy and implementation unit, and ten business control teams charged with providing consistent implementation of enterprise-risk programs across Wholesale. Through proactive coordination, WCO delivers an integrated risk strategy producing a sustainable control environment and demonstrable culture of strong risk management.
Financial Institutions Group (FIG): Financial Institutions Group is one of nine major lines with Wholesale Banking. It is a specialized coverage team responsible for national relationships with financial services providers. Relationships span across a broad range of industries, including Insurance, Securities brokerage, Asset Management, Exchanges, Payment Processing, Financial Technology, Title and Escrow, Consumer and commercial.
This open position sits within FIG Risk & Control Operational and Conduct Risk Team focused on supporting the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) within Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB).
The Role
The Operational Consultant will assist with mapping out business processes performed within CIB/FIG by leveraging their own knowledge of the FIG business to identify risks and control activities within RCSA (IPRC), as well as operational efficiencies, for this front line business group. The role will ensure all policies and procedures surrounding BPM and RCSA (IPRC) methodology is followed and adhered. During the process mapping exercises, the Consultant, will be expected to assist the business line to identify and document the process, any control gaps and recommend process/operational improvements to mitigate risks. This work will be reflected and aligned with the Recovery and Resolution Planning (RRP) and Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA/IPRC).
Specific responsibilities include:
--- Identification of business processes that need to be mapped
--- Identifying risks and controls aligning them to the corporate risk and control libraries
--- Identifying business process owners and developing relationships with those individuals
--- Understand products offered to FIG customers
--- Understand the tools (applications/systems) used in FIG processes
--- Being organized and be able to facilitate various stakeholders in process flow discussions and query those people to ensure processes are clearly understood and documented
--- Providing support to resolve issues identified in Credible Challenge Reviews on a quarterly basis
--- Collaborating with legacy Financial Institutions Group to identify any additional business functions that are not already documented
--- Maintaining and strengthening a broad operational risk and compliance knowledge

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements .

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both
  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: additional compliance, additional operational risk management, IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field Desired Qualifications
    • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization Other Desired Qualifications

      • Knowledge of Business Process Management
      • Experience with or strong knowledge of RCSA and its purposes and/or business process mapping
      • Knowledge of the Operational Risk components
